Celebrating 25 years of mediation provision in Hertfordshire
1983: Hertfordshire Family Mediaiton Service began providing Child Only mediation attached to the Family Court Welfare Service
1997: HFMS became an independent charity, governed by a Board of Trustees and working in partnership with Hertfordshire Probation Service (Charity No: 1077964)
1998: HFMS was affiliated to National Family Mediation
1999: HFMS was registered as a company limited by guarantee (Company No: 3743614)
1999: HFMS gained a franchise from the Legal Services Commission to provide publicly funded mediation
2000: HFMS began to offer “All Issues” mediation which incorporates financial and property matters as well as arrangements for children.

LSC – HFMS has works in a franchise partnership with the Legal Services Commission to provide publicly funded mediation
Solicitors – HFMS works closely with local solicitors and other profressonals to provide clients with a seamless service
CAFCASS – HFMS works in partnership with CAFCASS to provide pre-court mediation, in court mediation and post court mediation, known as EDR (extended dispute resolution)
Children’s Fund – Since 2004, HFMS has worked with the Children’s Fund to establish a well respected Children’s Counselling Service “Time to Talk” to meet the needs of children who have particular needs because of family breakdown
Lottery – HFMS has secured lottery funding to enable further expansion of its childrens’ services
Herts County Council – Continues to contribute to the funding of our childrens’ services, to enable us to offer them free to users.
